Self-Sowing Annual 55 days to flower Borago officinalis

HEIRLOOM We are quite fond of edible flowers and we’re also quite fond of resilient plants that take care of themselves in less than optimal conditions. Borage is both, so beautifully, while attracting all manner of butterflies, bees and multitudes of other beneficial pollinators!

Most of her delectable star-shaped blossoms are sky blue with a handful of rose and occasionally both. Your gazpacho may feel it’s missing something if there isn’t a bright borage blossom on top!

Borage prefers to grow in sun and moist, well-drained soil though even in less than optimal conditions borage will likely re-seed herself. But don’t worry: her wide cotyledons are easily identified in early spring and readily transplanted. These same spring leaves, when young, are quite edible for the adventuresome salad eater. Takes one to love one & we love you!
