HEIRLOOM If you’re looking for a ridiculously easy flower to grow, you’ve found it! Diablo practically thrives on neglect, growing stately and self-sufficient in virtually any soil. Her neon tangerine blooms attract multitudes of beneficial pollinators, including Monarchs and hummingbirds. Cosmos seeds are easy to collect with plenty to share, so you’ll enjoy her for years if not generations to come! Watching her ocean of orange sway in the summer breeze never gets old.
A fabulous dye plant, her brilliant petals are also delicious tossed on salads, cakes & sushi.
When to sow: Direct seeding is recommended, after last frost, shallowly sowing 4 seeds per foot
Or, to transplant, sow indoors in soil blocks 4 weeks before last frost, keeping soil surface moist until emergence. When seedlings have true leaves, transplant into larger containers. Transplant out after frost danger.
