Would you love more seeds & seedlings to plant in your garden?
Do you have extra seeds & seedlings you’d love to share?
You’re invited to Rochester’s annual Seed & Plant Share events!
The Rochester Seed Share is always the final Friday of March at the Edgerton Ballroom (41 Backus Street) from 5 to 7 pm…
…and the Rochester Plant Share is Friday, May 31st from 5 to 7 in 2024 and will be the Friday after Mother’s Day in May at the Public Market (280 North Union Street) from 5 to 7 in 2025 and beyond.
For these free events, all are welcome and keep in mind:
You don’t need to bring any plants to bring any seeds or seedlings to bring home any and all abundance you’d love!
The world is full gifts and receiving gratefully is how giving amplifies, so come as you are and trust you are part of community care and always becoming.
The Rochester Seed Share centers seeds (you guessed it!) and at the Plant Share you’ll find abundant:
~ vegetable, flower and herb transplants
~ divided perennials (if you’re bringing any to share, please make sure they are bare-root as we collectively do our best to avoid spreading jumping worms)
~ houseplant cuttings
~ seeds
~ info about community garden free soil testing from Cornell Cooperative Extension
~ bagged mushroom compost for community gardens (first come, first serve)
~ a jumping worm exhibit (learn to identify them!)
~ snacks and iced tea
~ Lots of tables and hands-on activities with your local food and justice organizations, including an ‘Ask a Master Gardener’ table
If your organization would love to table, reach out to Stephanie.Benway@cityofrochester.gov and we kindly request groups share only free resources and information rather than merchandise for sale.

…and thanks to our community partners of Taproot, 490 Farmers, City of Rochester, Urban Agricultural Working Group, Roc Mutual Aid, BUGS, Cooperative Extension and more for all your presence, capacity and care bringing these events to life each season!
