HEIRLOOM Beloved in France, we are quite smitten ourselves.
Thriving in the cool of spring and fall, we’ve been known to tuck D’Avignon Radish beside tomatoes to grow in the shade, even in the heat of summer.
Planting Method: Direct Sow Only
When to sow: Any time after snow melt, and until ~4 weeks before first frost (sweetest radishes are in cooler temperatures)
Sowing and seedling care: Sow 3/4-1 inch apart, thinning baby greens. Spice is a sign of stress, often too much heat or too little water. Sow with carrot or parsnip every 6 inches to help see and weed the row as slower germinating crops emerge.
Seed Depth: 1/2 inch Sun Needs: Full/Part
Days to Germination: 4 at 70°F; 8 at 45°F
Spacing after thinning: 1-2 inches
Days to Harvest: 21-28
Height: 6-12 inches
Harvest: Harvest promptly at 3-4 weeks to avoid pithiness.
