Indeterminate 65 days to harvest Solanum lycopersicum

HEIRLOOM   Of course, they’re darling & delectable!

Piennolo Del Vesuvio Paste Tomato is also early to mature in short seasons and what we really love this their heritage as the beloved ‘hanging tomato of Vesuvius,’ an heirloom selected for centuries in Italy’s volcanic soils. Pienollo has phenomenally low water content as a paste tomato & fairly thick skins allow them to be hung, traditionally, for months indoors to extend the season. Their concentrated flavor after even one month of hanging is heavenly! If you savor seeds as well as stories, you will be so glad you grew Piennolo del Vesuvio.

Just starting harvesting the first batch of these and so far they are fantastic. I’m in zone 7b and the plant has produced beautifully with a lot of fruit. I’m looking forward to the end of the season and hanging these to develop more flavor thru the fall. Would certainly recommend these to any tomato lover.

First season and successful! Florida zone 10a. Tampa.

Got many many now that I can hang through the warm summer months where tomatoes just can’t be grown well in this location.
The flavor is phenomenal and unlike any other I’ve tasted! Excellent for cooking.

Organic Piennolo del Vesuvio Paste Tomato

Planting Method: Transplant Only

When to sow: 6-8 weeks before last frost

Seed Depth: 1/8 inch      Days to Germination: 7-10 at 80°F (27°C)

Sowing and seedling care: Don’t start too early! Sow indoors 2 seeds/cell or soil block, & thin to 1. We recommend sowing on a heat mat at 80°F to emergence, 75°F after. Good light is essential: Younger, less stressed seedlings are healthier and more abundant than older, more stressed seedlings. Pot up to 3-4” pots when first true leaves, submerging 3/4 of the stem below soil.

When to transplant: Harden off & transplant outdoors after frost, again burying stem.

Strong 3′ trellis optional but helpful. Water soil, not leaves. Prune lowest stem “suckers” as they emerge.

Transplant Spacing:  2.5 feet    Sun Needs: Full

Days to Harvest: 65

Harvest: Indeterminate.
